For 28 years Hannah has created images, characters and performances worldwide.
She grew up “on the road” with celebrated Arts Company Welfare State International and then trained at Glasgow School of Art in Environmental Art. Having graduated she was whisked away to Amsterdam to work Internationally for 5 years as designer, performer and core member of the radical Dutch Theatre Collective Dogtroep.
Hannah qualified as a Celebrant/Officiant to lead public and personal ceremonies and then worked for 15 years as maker, deviser and Project Director with Welfare State International.
Hannah now lives and works from a hilltop farm in Cumbria, England - where she creates digital animations, architectural papercuts, junk films, one woman shows, installations, paintings and wire works, plays accordian and fiddle in a dance band, has 12 chickens, 4 sheep and is a mother of two children.
"I am an Artist who works across artforms in the fields of Environmental Arts, Theatre and the Celebratory Arts. As a creative practitioner, devisor, initiator and coordinator I employ a practical, imaginative and original approach, engaging many diverse skills; papercutting, sculpture, construction, puppetry, shadow theatre, animation, bookmaking, lantern making, costumes, banners, flags, celebratory spaces, procession, pageant and community carnival.
I work indoors and out, to varying scales, usually for a context and always with seasonal relevance and reference. I am a solo practitioner but work very often in teams, facilitating groups and communities and directing projects and events."
